What makes an object into art? What makes it rise above mediocrity? Almost always: I do not have to think about it. I see it. And ‘the market’ proved me right most of the time.
In 2010 I closed my art gallery in Haarlem. After twenty-five years I wished to focus on a mediating role between artist and art lover. The static role of ever-presence in a gallery was replaced by ambulant art consultancy. To this I brought experience, acumen and judgement, reliance and a network developed over a period of thirty years.
Since 2015 I have been employed by the National Ceramics Museum ‘Princessehof’ in Leeuwarden, Friesland, first as scout, then as curator and since 2018 as conservator for contemporary ceramics.
